The stunning new Ultegra Ci4 XSAs from Shimano are made from Ci4 which is a reinforced carbon fibre, over 1.5 times stronger than normal XT-7 graphite, and over 20% lighter. It is also impervious to rust, as it does not contain any metal. This means Shimano have been able to design extremely strong and lightweight reels with very precise tolerances.
